Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a fiberboard excellent in formability and good even in shape stability after forming without causing cracks even in a deep drawing by drying a wet formed board of a mixture of woody fibers with hempen fibers having a specific length in a specified proportion. CONSTITUTION: A binder such as preferably a starch or polyacrylamide in an amount of 2-15 wt.% is added to a mixture of (A) 60-95 wt.% or woody fibers with (B) 40-5 wt.% of hempen fibers having 5-40 mm average length and water is further added thereto to provide a slurry at 1-3 wt.% concentration. The resultant slurry is then formed into a board, which is dried to afford the objective fiberboard.
