Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently and stably produce metal powder having high purity at low cost by dropping drip formed with arc generating from consumable electrodes on a rotated dish having annular side wall, scattering and cooling to make powder.
CONSTITUTION: In a chamber 57 under reduced pressure or gas atmosphere, one pair of the consumable electrodes 51 are arranged as facing through electrode driving devices 50 at the prescribed interval. The arc 52 is generated by conducting current from electric source 56 to the consumable electrodes 51. With this arc 52, the faced end part of the electrodes 51 are melted to form the drip 53. This drip 53 is dropped on the disk 54 standing annular side wall part 54a on the outer periphery of upper face thereof. This disk 54 is rotated with a rotating device 58 at high speed, such as about 30,000rpm. With centrifugal force of this disk 54, the above drip 53 is scattered and cooled by going over the above side wall part 54a and the metal powder 55 having desired powder size is formed at high productivity.
