Abstract

PURPOSE:To develop a cable conductor excellent in strength and bending resistance, by providing a cable conductor made of a Cu alloy in which specific amounts of Zn, Sn, and one or more elements among Ni, Si, and Ti are incorporated to Cu or coating the surface of the above conductor with Sn or Sn-P alloy. CONSTITUTION:A cable conductor is produced by using a Cu alloy consisting of, by weight, 5-40% Zn, 0.2-2.0% Sn, 0.1-1.0% of one or >=2 elements among Ni, Si, and Ti, and the balance Cu, or the surface of the above cable conductor is coated with Sn or Sn-P alloy to improve solderability. By the addition of Sn, strength of a cable-conductor product is improved and also bending characteristics are improved. Further, by the addition of Ni, Si, and Ti, the cable conductor made of Cu alloy improved in bending characteristics and excellent also in fatigue characteristics can be obtained.
