Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a surface treated steel sheet having superior oxidation and corrosion resistances especially at high temp. and not causing the exfoliation of the plating layer during forming, by plating a steel sheet with an Al-Cr-Si alloy contg. prescribed amts. of Cr and Si. CONSTITUTION:A steel sheet is plated with an Al-Cr-Si alloy consisting of 1-50wt.%, preferably 5-30wt.% Cr, 1-20wt.% Si and the balance Al with inevitable impurities to obtain a desired surface treated steel sheet. This surface treated steel sheet is desirable obtd. by vapor-depositing an Al-Cr-Si alloy film on the steel sheet especially in a high vacuum of <=10<-3>Torr. The surface treated steel sheet does not form a brittle Fe-Al alloy layer on the interface between the plating layer and the base steel sheet and has superior corrosion resistance at high temp.
