Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a cold-rolled steel sheet excellent in durability, tensile strength and elongation by applying a heat treatment with a specific condition to the plate material or the thin plate material of a low carbon Al-killed steel which does not contain micro-alloying elements of Nb, V, Ti, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The low carbon aluminum-killed steel having 0.04-0.18wt.% C and 0.25-1.40wt.% Mn and containing nothing of any expensive micro-alloying agent of Nb, V, Ti, etc., is cold-rolled and e.g. made to the steel sheet having 0.078-0.236mm thickness. Firstly, the sheet is passed through Pb bath within 15sec and heated to 700-1000°F. Successively, the current of 8000A is conducted at about 90V to the steel sheet come out from the Pb bath and after heating to 1500-1725°F with the resistant heat, and this sheet is passed through the Pb bath at 650-950°F and thereafter, this sheet is rapidly cooled to 150°F with a water spraying, etc. Then, the low carbon-manganese rolled steel sheet having >275MPa durability, >345MPa tensile strength and >14% elongation, is produced.
