Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve hydrophilic property of hydrophilic silicate film formed on the surface of Al and adhesive strength of the film to the Al, and to improve post workability of the coated product by treating the silicate film with a soln. contg. at least one kind of polyvalent metal salt or hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:After applying a soln. for hydrophilic treatment contg. alkali metal silicate and/or quaternary amine silicate to Al surface after or without subjecting the surface to chemical conversion treatment, a hydrophilic silicate film is formed on the Al surface by heating and drying the coated product. Then, obtd. hydrophilic silicate film is treated with a soln. contg. at least one kind of polyvalent metal salt or hydroxide to impart hydrophilic property to the Al surface. The drying of the coated product by heating is preferred to be carried out by hot air drying at 80-300 deg.C for 5sec-30min.
