Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula. USE:Useful for organic synthesis and polymer synthesis, especially for the synthesis of polycarbonate and polyurethane. It has reactive chlorine groups at both terminals of the molecule. The compound can be produced in high yield and purity by a simple method with little production of by-products. PREPARATION:The compound of formula can be produced by reacting tricyclo[5.2.1.0<2>,<6>]decane-dimethanol with phosgene in the presence of specific ethers as reaction assistant, especially preferably in a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran or dioxane at 0-20 deg.C. The amount of phosgene is 2.0-4.0mol. per 1mol. of the starting raw material and that of the ethers is 5-40pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the raw material.
