Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A triazole derivative formula I (X is H, Cl). EXAMPLE:1-(4-Chlorophenyl)-4,4-dimethyl-2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-pentane -1,3-diol. USE:Plant growth regulator and fungicide for agricultural and horticultural purposes in rice paddies, crop fields, orchards, tea fields, pastures and lawns. PREPARATION:A reducing agent such as lithium hydride, lithium aluminum hydride, sodium borohydride, sodium borocyanohydride, or diborane is allowed to react with a compound of formula II usually at -20-120 deg.C for 0.1-24hr to give the compound of formula I. The compound of formula II is obtained by reaction between compounds of formulas III and IV in the presence of a catalyst such as piperazine.
