Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a modified acrylic copolymer having excellent vulcanizing properties, processing properties, heat resistance and compression permanent set resistance, by modifying an acrylic copolymer containing a specific reactive group with a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) An acrylic copolymer containing one or more reactive groups selected from carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, amino group and epoxy group is modified with (B) a compound (e.g. acrylic acid or allyl glycidyl ether) which contains a group (e.g. carboxylic acid chloride group, carboxyl group or epoxy group) capable of reacting the above-mentioned reactive group and an unsaturated hydrocarbon group. An acrylic copolymer comprising (i) 50-99.99wt.% unit derived from acrylic monomer, (ii) 0.01-15wt.% unit derived from a monomer containing a reactive group selected from carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, amino group and epoxy group and (iii) 0-49.99wt.% unit derived from copolymerizable third monomer is used as the acrylic copolymer A.
