Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently remove volatile substances from thermoplastic polymer pellets, such as olefinic polymer, containing a solvent, unreacted monomer and other volatile substances without causing blocking of the pellets, by bringing a specific mixed fluid into contact with the thermoplastic polymer pellets. CONSTITUTION:For example, (B) a mixed fluid of 1kg steam at 143 deg.C under 3kg/cm<2> pressure with 0.12-8Nm<3> inert gas is blown into (A) thermoplastic polymer pellets, containing volatile substances capable of moving downward without back mixing and having at least initially no surface film of water at the sticking temperature of the thermoplastic polymer or below, preferably at 70-110 deg.C (when the thermoplastic polymer is olefinic polymer or olefinic copolymer) for 4-24hr to efficiently remove the volatile substances.
