Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce fine powder of metal oxide mixed uniformly in a specified composition by bringing a soln. of a mixture consisting of a specified ternary metal salt and a chelate ligand having >=2 ligancy into contact with hot atmosphere in atomized state, causing thus combustion and oxidation. CONSTITUTION:Each salt of a metal M1 (at least one among B, Al, Ga, In, Tl, Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu), M2 (at least one among Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Sn, and Pb), and M3 (Cu), is mixed with a chelate ligand having >=2 ligancy (e.g. HNO3, citric acid, etc.). The mixed soln. is brought into contact with hot atmosphere or flame to cause drying and, simultaneously, combustion and oxidation. By this method, a superconductor expressed by (M1)x(M2)y(M3)zOw (wherein x, y, z, and w are optional atomic mol. fraction) is produced at relatively low temp. with good efficiency.
