Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the breaking of a discharge circuit until the commutation is completed reliably synchronously with the opening of a breaking unit and prevent the re-arcing across main electrodes by performing the switch operation with the induction arcing by the inter-main electrode arc generated across the main electrodes of the breaking unit. CONSTITUTION:A breaking unit is formed with a vacuum valve constituted of a main fixed electrode 6 provided on a DC main line 1, a main movable electrode 7 which is arranged to face this main fixed electrode 6 and separable from it, and an auxiliary electrode 8 arranged between these main electrodes 6, 7 coaxially with the main electrodes via a gap. A serial connection body of a commutation capacitor 3 and a reactor 4 is connected between the main fixed electrode 6 and the auxiliary fixed electrode 8, and the commutation capacitor 3 is discharged by the induction arcing across the main electrodes 6, 7 and the auxiliary fixed electrode 8 via the inter-main electrode arc 9 generated when the main electrodes 6, 7 are separated. The breaking of a discharge circuit is prevented until the commutation is completed reliably synchronously with the opening of the breaking unit 2a, and the re-arcing across the main electrodes 6, 7 is prevented.
