Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate variance in the step position of a carriage by stopping return driving when the counted value of pulses reaches a number corresponding to a return quantity except during a final readout scan, and then making a next read.
CONSTITUTION: A CPU 71 counts output pulses by its internal counter and outputs forward movement pulses repeatedly until the specific number N is reached. When the specific number N is reached, the end of the forward movement is judged and a return flag is set to '1'. Then the return flag is '1', so the CPU 71 outputs return pulses repeatedly until the counted number of the outputted return pulses reaches said specific number N except in the final scan and when the specific number N is reached, the return flag is reset and the initial state is entered. Consequently, the carriage 4 returns to the initial position at the start of the 1st read with out fail except during the return driving for the final readout scan. The readout scan is therefore synchronized and image formation is performed without any color deviation.
