Abstract
PURPOSE:To make change in overlapped width of a reinforced layer in a splice part before and after vulcanization to be small and to make uniformity level (RVF) good, by cross-linking partially a belt reinforcing layer reinforcing a belt part of a radial tire of a passenger car in a preceding process before vulca nization by irradiating electron rays. CONSTITUTION:Reinforcing cords are covered with a rubber composition to prepare belt reinforcing layers 6a and 6b and irradiated with electron rays. Thereafter, these belt reinforcing layers irradiated with the electron rays are laminated on a belt part and then, this laminated body is molded with other tire constituting materials to prepare a green tire. The green tire thus obtained is put in a vulcanization mold and vulcanized by heating under pressure. It is preferable that the accelerating voltage is at least 100keV or more and the absorbing dose is in the range of 2-10 mrad. If these accelerating voltage and absorbing dose are too small, it becomes difficult to reduce or depress the change in the width of a splice part of both end parts of the reinforcing layer before and after vulcanization and it is impossible to improve the uniform ity (RFV). On the other hand, if these values are too large, it is not preferable, because rubber properties of the belt reinforcing layer decrease.
