Abstract
PURPOSE:To contract the diameter of a connection hole enlarged by plastic processing by shape memory effect and to strongly connect a printing pin and wire, by inserting the wire in the connection hole of the printing pin to heat the printing pin to temp. equal to or higher than a transformation point or more. CONSTITUTION:A printing pin 1 is formed from a shape memory alloy composed of a titanium-nickel alloy composition containing 50 atomic % of Ni. A connection hole 1a is formed to the printing pin 1 but the inner diameter (a) of the connection hole is smaller than the diameter (b) of a wire 2 to be inserted. The printing pin is subjected to unidirectional memory treatment by ageing treatment at temp. equal to or higher than a phase transformation finish point, for example, at 500 deg.C for 1hr. Apparent plastic processing is applied to the connection hole 1a of the printing pin 1 at temp. equal to or less than the phase transformation point of the shape memory alloy to enlarge the diameter of the connection hole to a diameter A having a size making it possible to insert the wire 2. The printing pin 1 is heated to temp. equal to or higher than the phase transformation temp. of the shape memory alloy, for example, to 150 deg.C. The diameter of the connection hole 1a is contracted by shape memory effect and the printing pin 1 and the wire 12 are connected in an undetachable manner.
