Abstract

PURPOSE:To precisely judge and monitor a slag dropping state and the state of a coal gasification furnace, by processing an image obtd. by image pickup of slag dropping from the slag tap of the coal gasification furnace. CONSTITUTION:In the method of flowing down slag through a coal gasification furnace 31 to discharge coal ash melted at a high temp. as slag out of the system, a slag dropping state and the state of the furnace are estimated using the following constitution. Specifically, dropping slag 13 is caught as an image (with a camera 40) and the obtd. image is processed (with an image processing unit 24) to measure the frequency of dropping of the slag 13 and the vol. of slag drops, from which the amt. of flow-down of the slag 13 is calculated. The frequency of dropping of the slag 13, the vol. of slag drops and the amt. of flow-down of the slag 13 are used to judge and monitor the slag dropping state and the state of the furnace.
