Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a high-hardness nonmagnetic stainless steel excellent in hot workability and corrosion resistance, by incorporating specific percentages of C, Si, Mn, S, Ni, Cr, O, N, and Ca to Fe and specifying respective values of Nieq, Creq, and PV.
CONSTITUTION: A stainless steel having a composition which consists of, by weight, 0.01W0.5% C, 0.1W4% Si, 5W20% Mn, ≤0.006% S, 0.1W15% Ni, 12W22% Cr, ≤0.01% O, 0.01W0.5% N, 0.0001W0.02% Ca, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and in which Nieq represented by Nieq=Ni%+30C%+25N %+0.5Mn%, Creq represented by Creq=Cr%+1.5Si%, and PV represented by PV=S(ppm)+O(ppm)-0.8Ca(ppm)-30 are regulated to ≥18, ≤23, and ≤0, respectively, is prepared. By this method, the high-hardness nonmagnetic stainless steel suitable for parts, etc., for various industrial machinery such as equipment using magnetism can be obtained.
