Abstract
PURPOSE:To securely detect even vapor leakage which can not be identified with human eyes by detecting remotely an infrared ray which is emitted or absorbed by vapor leaking from a liquid seal part. CONSTITUTION:An infrared camera 3 detects leaking vapor 2 from the lower-end seal plug of a specific pressure pipe 1a in the pressure pipe group 1 of a pressure pipe type nuclear reactor. A video signal from the infrared camera 3 is supplied through a camera controller 4 and processed as an image by an image processor 5 equipped with a monitor television 5a. At this time, when the infrared ray radiation amount of the leaking vapor part is larger than that of the periphery, the picture elements of the part become higher in signal level, but when the infrared-ray radiation amount is smaller, on the other hand, the signal level is lower than that of the periphery, so even vapor which is invisible can be identified.
