PURPOSE: To prevent discoloration and corrosion of a bathtub material and continuously sterilize remaining hot water by mixing a chemical having an antibacterial property with resin material for forming the bathtub.
CONSTITUTION: The surface layer 2 of the inner surface of a bathtub 1 is a part generally called a gel coat layer formed by applying a surface layer material to a die by brushing or spray and hardening the same. Vinyzene which is an organic arsenic-base chemical is previously mixed with the material of the surface layer. An intermediate layer 3 is formed by impregnating glass fiber of 450G/m2 with an isophthalic acid unsaturated polyester, and stacking and hardening the same. A backup layer 4 is formed by impregnating glass fiber of 900G/m2 with an orthophthalic acid unsaturated polyester and stacking and hardening the same. The thus formed bathtub 1 is let to have the antibacterial property by gradual elution of chemical, thereby preventing turbid remaining hot water, slime on the inner surface of the bathtub and malodor.
