Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the accuracy of the magnetic field tomographic image in the body such as a lung magnetic field tomographic image, by irradiating the breast with an ultrasonic pulse and partially vibrating the magnetic powder in the breast to detect the change portion of the magnetic field formed by said magnetic powder by a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) sensor and measuring the density of the magnetic powder at the position of said pulse.
CONSTITUTION: A large number of pickup coils 2 (P1WP8) are arranged in an array form. The ultrasonic pulse 5 from an ultrasonic transducer 3 are allowed to scan radially left and right and the signal obtained by an SQUID sensor 1 is processed to obtain a tomographic image on a display. In obtaining this tomographic image, the magnetic powder in the dust of the part where the ultrasonic pulses 5 are positioned is vibrated by said pulses 5 and the magnetic field formed by said magnetic powder varies as a result and this variation is measured by the SQUID sensor 1 and the magnitude of the signal obtained by the SQUID sensor 1 is proportional to the density of the magnetic powder. Therefore, the timewise movement of the ultrasonic pulses 5 and the output of the SQUID sensor are displayed on the display as position data and brightness signal data to constitute the tomographic image.
