Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a treatment device for effectively treat alveus or constriction, by unifying a shape memory alloy taking an expanded shape at specific temp. or more with a positive characteristic thermistor and mounting the same to the leading end part of the flexible support member inserted in an endoscope.
CONSTITUTION: When the leading end part of an endoscope 1 is inserted in the body cavity or tube (e.g., bile duct) to treat the cancerous tissue of the body cavity or tube, the endoscope 1 is inserted in the body cavity (or tube) 9 up to the vicinity of the cancerous tissue 10 thereof along with a positive characteristic thermistor 4 and a shape memory alloy wire 6. A catheter 3 is operated while the interior of the body cavity 9 is observed by the endoscope 1 to insert the shape memory alloy wire 6 in the constriction part due to the cancerous tissue 10 and, thereafter, a current is supplied to the positive characteristic thermistor 4 to heat the shape memory alloy wire 6. When the shape memory alloy wire 6 reaches the predetermined transformation temp. or more, said wire 6 returns to the stored shape instanteneously to bring the constriction part due to the cancerous tissue 10 to an expanded state and show high temp. to cauterize, annihilate or contract the cancerous tissue 10 brought into contact with the shape memory alloy wire 6 at high temp.
