Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled colloid capable of coating in a desired amount of a polymer and thickness with hardly any residual solvent and suitable as prepreg, etc., by thermally dissolving or previously reacting a polyfunctional maleimide with a polyamine and blending a specific low-boiling solvent therewith. CONSTITUTION:Polyfunctional maleimides expressed by the formula (R is bi--pentafunctional aromatic or aliphatic organic group; X1 and X2 are H or alkyl; n is 2-5) in an amount of 5-90wt.% are thermally dissolved or previously reacted with 95-10wt.% polyamine which is then dissolved. The resultant solution is subsequently blended with a low-boiling solvent of <=150 deg.C boiling point (e.g. acetone or methyl ethyl ketone) which is a poor solvent for the polyfunctional maleimides to provide a colloidal form. Furthermore, a solution of a thermosetting polymer or previous reaction product thereof in a low-boiling solvent is then added and blended.
