Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to reduce the amt. of a replensiher for a soln. for developing or fixing a silver halide photosensitive material without lowering the sensitivity during automatic development, by introducing the replenisher into a tank from a position near the photosensitive material inlet. CONSTITUTION:When a silver halide photosensitive material S is developed in an automatic developing device, the level L of a soln. part in the developing tank 2 and/or the processing tank having fixing capacity is regulated so as to satisfy an inequality, logK<=1.8X10<-5>V-1.5 [where S is the surface area (cm<2>) of the soln. part, V is then volume (cm<3>) and K is the degree (cm<-1>) of opening and S/V]. A replenisher for a developing soln. and/or a processing soln. having fixing capacity is introduced into the developing tank 2 and/or the processing tank having fixing capacity from a position 30 (replenishing hole A) near the photosensitive material inlet. The part to be initially developed can be developed with the hardly deteriorated developing soln. and the amt. of the replenisher used can be effectively reduced.
