Abstract

PURPOSE:To show stable separating efficiency regardless of the change of circumstances, the type of sheets, moisture content, etc., by providing a separating electrode adjacent to a transfer electrifier through an insulating member and a discharge supporting means supporting the discharge to the separating electrode side. CONSTITUTION:The transfer electrifier is provided with the adjacent separating electrode 16 through the insulating member 15 and the discharge suppressing means is provided which suppresses the discharge to the separating electrode side. As the discharge suppressing means, for example, the insulating member 15 provided at least to the height of a discharge wire 11 from the toner image carrier side of the conductive shield member 10 of the separating electrode side of the transfer electrifier is used, the electric field of the separating electrode side of the transfer electrifier is weakened, the electric field of the toner image carrier side of the separating electrode 16 is relatively strengthened, the destaticization of a transfer material is surely performed and the transfer material is separated. Thus, even when a photosensitive drum whose diameter is small is used, stable separating efficiency is shown regardless of the change of the circumstances, the type of sheets, the moisture content, etc.
