Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve quality of a production by forming heater device with an electrode part and an exothermic body made of conductive ceramic covering the electrode part and conducting the current by impressing the voltage between the electrode part and molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: The first and second heat devices 6, 9 are constituted of laminated exothermic bodies 7, 10 composing of zirconia and magnesia as main component and plate-like electrode parts 8, 11. Further, the electrodes 8, 11 are divided into three pieces by insulating bodies 71, 111, respectively. The exothermic bodies 7, 10 are preheated by conducting the current between terminals 75, 77 and between terminals 115, 117 in the devices 6, 9, and next, the heater devices 6, 9 are dipped into the molten metal in a tundish, and the prescribed voltage is impressed between terminals 76, 116. By this method, the exothermic bodies 7, 10 effectively generates heat at high temp., adjusts the molten metal temp. and keeps the optimum temp. Therefore, as the cast slab quality continuously cast in the mold is improved, the quality of the product is improved.
