Abstract

PURPOSE:To execute ideal low temp. casting by giving rotating stirring to molten metal continuously supplied into inner part of a cooling cylinder, cooling, pouring the molten metal containing generated fine pieces of solidified nucleic into a mold and scattering many solidified nuclei in the molten metal under condition of little over-heating degree. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal 19 under over-heating condition, supplied in the cooling cylinder 1 from a submerged tube 13 is rapidly cooled and solidified by bringing into contact with water cooler for the cooling cylinder 1 and a part thereof is stuck as solidified shell 19'. Then, the solidified crystals having tendency to grow by further cooling, are cut to <=1mm the size by strong rotating stirring flow 20 of the molten metal 19 and scattered as the solidified nuclei in the molten metal 19. In such a way, the whole molten metal is cooled to lower the temp. and the molten metal 20' containing many solidified nucleic is supplied into the mold 17 through electric conductive heating nozzle 10. By this method, coarse structure in the cast slab 21 is eliminated and quality defects of segregation, center porosity, inner crack, etc., are eliminated.
