Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of a recording liquid, suppress variations in physical properties of the liquid and obtain stable jetting characteristics, by a construction wherein the recording liquid and a liquid incompatible with the recording liquid and not used for recording are present in a liquid chamber, and a thermal energy-supplying means is provided for heating the liquid not used for recording to produce bubbles, with the result of a volume change by which the recording liquid is moved, and is ejected. CONSTITUTION:An oil-based ink, for example, is used as a recording liquid 9, whereas a liquid incompatible with the oil-based ink, for example, water or an aqueous solution containing a preservative or the like therein is used as a bubble-generating liquid 10. The recording liquid 9 and the bubble-generating liquid 10 are supplied respectively through a recording liquid inlet port 6 and a bubble-generating liquid inlet port 7, and are present in a double-layer structure without mutual dissolution. A bubble- generating part 8 is heated by a means such as a heating element and liquid electric discharge to generate a bubble 11. The bubble is instantaneously generated in the liquid by boiling, and makes the bubble-generating liquid 10 protuberant. The substantial increase in the volume of the liquid 10 in a bubble-generating liquid passage 5 pushes the recording liquid 9 in a recording liquid passage 3 toward an ejecting port 1, whereby a recording liquid droplet 12 is ejected.
