Abstract

PURPOSE: To aim at the effective utilization of a bar material by providing a means to store memory of the length of each parts to be processed, a means to detect the end of the last bar material to be processed, a means to compute the length of a remaining material and a means to compute the number of parts to be processed so that the length of the last material will be the shortest piece.
CONSTITUTION: A light sensor 7 is to be provided on an and detection position RS of a headstock 2. A processing system program memory 11a, a parameter memory 12 and the like are to be connected to a main control portion 9. A bar material 32 is to be processed after setting it and inputting the length to be processed of several kinds of parts into a processing program memory 11b through a key board 15. Lastly, the number of parts to be processed of several different kinds are to be found with a process number control portion 13 on the basis of the length of the material remaining so that the length of the last bar material 32 remaining will be the shortest one. With the said means, one piece of the bar material 32 can be aimed to be effectively utilized by processing several kinds of parts having different processing lengths without any additional assistance.
