PURPOSE:To effectively utilize space in the periphery of a supporting part of a shift lever by arranging an actuator lever, which stops a lock member of the shift lever and releases it from the lock through a stopper member, in a vertical position along the lengthwise direction of the shift lever. CONSTITUTION:A shift lever 10, when it is controlled to a parking range P, is supported by a lock member 42. While it turns to a lock position by urging force, acting on the shift lever 10, of a select spring 17, locking the shift lever 10. Here the lock member 42 is held to the lock position by a stopper member 45 stopped to the lock member 42. The stopper member 45 performs its lock and release by an actuator 52. An operating lever 53 of the actuator 52 for the stopper member 45 is arranged in a vertical position along the lengthwise direction of the shift lever 10. By this constitution, space in the periphery of a supporting part of the shift lever 10 can be effectively utilized.
