Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide strong striking force without utilizing a large-output motor by providing a nonuniform-velocity means setting the velocity of a piston larger in its forward path than in its return path.
CONSTITUTION: A switch handle is operated with the tip of a drill bit 8 kept in contact with a bored face and with its rear end kept in contact with a striker 33 to operate a small-output motor 2, and the rotation of the motor 2 is transferred to the drill bit 8 from an intermediate shaft 23 via a spindle 31 and a key 39 to rotate the bit 8. A piston 4 is reciprocated by the cam action of the positive motion cam (constituted of the cam groove 56 of a rotor 55 and the roller 57 of the piston 4) of a motion converting member 5 concurrently serving as a nonuniform-velocity means 6. The velocity of the piston 4 is set larger in its forward path than in its return path, the striker 33 is driven by a hammer 41 with strong striking force, the striking force is transferred to the drill bit 8, and a large-diameter hole is bored on a work.
