[Detailed Description of the Invention] Conventionally, in order to indicate the storage or expiration date of foods, medicines, etc., it has been common practice to display the period and final date in letters on the container. It is difficult to see from a distance, and it is inconvenient to check it up close or by holding it in your hand.

As the base material, an alkali-resistant non-porous or porous solid material, preferably a paper or cloth base material, is generally used, and it is possible to uniformly disperse and adhere the variable dye and the alkaline substance to the base material. Preferably, for this purpose, after preparing these solutions, the time indicator of the present invention is obtained by adhering to the solutions by dipping, spraying, coating, etc. and drying them. Variable dyes include p-nitrophenol, binachrome, and γ.

It can be made into a color indicator. The amount of variable dye used is based on the base material.
The range is generally 0.001 to 8%, preferably 0.01%.
~1% is good. Alkaline substances include sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, barium hydroxide,
Sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, calcium hydroxide, etc. can be used. In order to cause the variable dye and an alkaline substance to coexist in the base material, for example, generally, a solution is prepared by dissolving the variable dye in water or an organic solvent, and this is added to and mixed with an alkaline aqueous solution. A wide base material made of paper or cloth is dipped in the prepared liquid, or the liquid is sprayed or applied onto the base material and then dried, and then cut into a predetermined size to form a large number of time indicators of the present invention. It is preferable to obtain Note that drying is preferably carried out in a stream of an inert gas such as helium or nitrogen, but it can also be carried out in air.

The time indicator of the present invention is generally used by being attached to the outer surface of a container 1 containing a product whose period is to be measured, such as food, medicine, etc., as shown in the accompanying drawings. 2 comes into contact with the outside air, and more specifically, the alkaline substance supported by the base material of the indicator 2 comes into contact with carbon dioxide gas in the outside air and reacts, and the content of the alkaline substance decreases. According to PH
continues to decline. As the PH decreases, the variable pigment that changes color according to the change in PH carried by the base material of the indicator 2 changes. Thus, over a predetermined period of time, the color gradually changes from the initial predetermined color to the final color. works to settle down to a stable color. Therefore, the user can observe this color change and measure the shelf life at any time. Preferably, when attaching a color change sample piece 3 consisting of, for example, an initial color and a final color, alongside the indicator 2 of the present invention,
The observation can be made more reliably and easily. The predetermined color change period of the indicator of the present invention can be freely set in advance depending on the content of the alkaline substance, and various time indicators can be created depending on the product to be observed.

Time indicator Color change Change period a Blue - colorless 1 and a half months b Blue - colorless 1 year c Blue-purple - colorless 3 months d Red - beige 3 months e Red - colorless 6 months f Red-purple - colorless 3 months This is how the book looks like. According to the invention, a time indicator in which a variable pigment that changes color depending on pH changes and an alkaline substance coexist in the base material can be used to easily determine the shelf life from the change in color at a glance. The alkaline substance reacts with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to reduce its content over time, and as the content decreases, the coexisting variable pigment changes color over time, and the degree of color change at that time can be checked at a glance. This has the effect that the storage period can be easily determined and observed even from a distance.
