CONSTITUTION:A line exchange switch exchanging aline data and a variable speed link packet switch 7 from which a packet data is read by an external input clock are provided, a clock is generated at a time slot location other than the time slot in use for line exchange at the output side of both the switches and the clock is supplied as the input clock of the variable speed link packet switch 7, a packet data is read from the switch and the packet data and the line data in the time slot location used for the line exchange are multiplexed and the result is sent to the same line. An output highway 2 is used for the line and packet in common to improve the utilizing efficiency of the line.
