Abstract

PURPOSE: To speedily and surely move a balance at a fixed position by providing a head frame with a cover, with which a lateral groove for holding the balance at the upper dead center position and a longitudinal groove for vertically moving the balance at a sewing position are engraved while being T-shaped, and providing a balance presser on a shaft so as to be freely turned. CONSTITUTION: In the case of color thread exchange, first of all, all the balances are held at the upper dead center position and afterwards, a needle bar attaching plate 15 is turned with a shaft 12 as a center and stopped so that a needle bar 17 inserted with a desired color thread through a needle can come to a fixed position. When this needle bar attaching plate 15 is turned, the shaft 12 fixing this plate is turned together so that the balance provided while confronting one balance 8 to each needle bar 17 is also moved inside a lateral groove 29 of a cover 27 through an arm 11 and bracket 10 by this shaft 12. Thus, the balance 8 facing the needle bar 17 inserted with the desired color thread is stopped at the fixed position, namely, at the position of a longitudinal groove 28. Then, a lock pin 7 of an oscillating link 5 is locked to a fork-shaped lock part 8a on the side of base end of the balance only at this fixed position.
