Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A bis(4-hydroxyphenylpropionic acid ester) compound expressed by formula I (R<1> and R<2> are same or different 1-12C hydrocarbon groups; R<3> and R<4> are 1-22C hydrocarbon or 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl or N-alkyl substituent which are same or different; Y is 1-8C alkylene, alkylidene, cycloalkylidene, arylalkylidene or S). EXAMPLE:2, 2'-Methylenebis [4-( 2-methoxycarbonylethyl )-6-tert.-butylphenol] hav ing stabilizing action, especially oxidation-preventing action to organic materials and useful as stabilizer for organic materials, especially antioxidant. PREPARATION:For example, a compound expressed by formula II and/or com pound expressed by formula III is reacted with a corresponding aldehyde in the presence of an acidic catalyst in a solvent to provide the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
