Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound having prolonged strong hypotensive action, vasodilating action, etc., under mild condition with simple operation in high yield, by reacting a 1,4-dihydropyridinecarboxylic acid with an aziridinium salt. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula IV is produced by reacting (A) a 1,4-dihydropyridinecarboxylic acid of formula I (R1 is alkyl; X, Y and Z are H, halogen, trifluoromethyl or nitro provided that X, Y and Z are not H at the same time) with (B) an aziridinium salt of formula II (R2 is alkyl; R3 is alkyl or aralkyl; the group of formula III is anion residue) in the presence of a base in a solvent at -20-+200 deg.C, preferably -10-+150 deg.C for <=48hr, generally for about 24hr. The amount of the compound of formula II is preferably 1.0-2.0 equivalent based on 1 equivalent of the compound of formula I.
