NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, phenyl, substituted phenyl or aralkyl). EXAMPLE:4,5-Dichloro-6-fluoro-2-(3-trifluoromethylphenyl)pyridazin-3(2 H)-one. USE:An intermediate for agricultural chemicals and pharmaceuticals exhibiting herbicidal, insecticidal and bactericidal activities. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by organic electrolytic fluorination of the compound of formula II. The supporting electrolyte and fluorine source used in the above reaction is preferably a hydrogen fluoride- amine salt prepared by reacting anhydrous hydrogen fluoride with various amines or a hydrogen fluoride-amine salt prepared by reacting hydrogen fluoride- pyridine with various amines in a reaction system.
