Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain pre-expanded particles stabilized in cell population and expansion ratio, by using resin particles obtained by subjecting a specified heat hysteresis to a noncrosslinked linear low-density polyethylene as a starting material. CONSTITUTION:Resin particles obtained by heating a noncrosslinked linear low-density polyethylene to a temperature >= its melting point and quenching it in an atmosphere at a temperature equal to its crystallization temperature -30 deg.C or below are used as a starting material. These resin particles and a volatile blowing agent are dispersed in a dispersing medium in a pressure vessel, heated to a temperature ranging from the m.p. -20 deg.C to the m.p. -10 deg.C without heating to a temperature above the one at which the melting of the resin is completed to impregnate the resin particles with the blowing agent. The impregnated particles are expanded by releasing them and the dispersing medium from the vessel into a low-pressure atmosphere at a temperature within said temperature range.
