Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to protect a substrate by preventing the film from being damaged by a shock, by forming hollow cells in a film after baking by adding a blowing agent for forming a specified amount of voids in a formed film of a vinyl chloride sol coating. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl chloride sol chipping-resistant coating containing a blowing agent in an amount to form 1-60vol.% voids in a formed film. The structural elements of the chipping-resistant coating consist of a vinyl chloride sol or a vinyl chloride organosol containing a small amount of a solvent (vinyl chloride sol) as the main component. When the volume of said voids is below 1vol.%, the film cannot absorb a shock of, e.g., a hit stone because of its excessively low content of voids, and when it is above 60vol.%, the film decreases in strength because of its excessively high content of voids. In both cases, the chipping resistance is decreased and no effect is attained.
