Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce weight and size by controlling a two-dimensional active mass damper provided in such a way that it can be two-dimensionally vibrated through the use of a software servo using a QL control theory on the basis of detection signals from a structure, which is an object of damping. CONSTITUTION: A two-dimensional active mass damper 2 is mounted to the upper end of a tower-shaped structure 1, and the vibrations of the structure 1 are detected by a displacement sensor 5 and are transmitted to a software servo-controlling device 6 and an FFT analyzer 7 for analyzing vibrations. In addition, in the damper 2, permanent magnets 11 are each arranged on the upper and lower surfaces of a mass 9, and electromagnets 12 are each arranged above and beneath the magnets 11. Then a control logic based on a LQ control theory is formed in a one-board computer to compute necessary controlled variables and to perform control by displacing the mass 9 in the x and y- directions through the use of the attracting and repelling forces of the magnets 11 and electromagnets 12. By this, it is possible to reduce weight and size.
