Abstract

PURPOSE:To specify an occurrence place of abnormally high temperature due to a fire, etc., by storing an optical fiber for temperature detection with a metal coating layer in a metal pipe. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 1 for temperature detection is formed by coating a temperature detection fiber 2 which varies in light loss with temperature directly with the metal coating layer 3. Then one or plural cores 1 are put in the space of the metal pipe 4 while a gap is left between the internal wall of the pipe 4 and the coated optical fiber 1 to prevent the external force to the pipe 4 from affecting the coated optical fiber 1 directly, thus constituting a temperature sensor optical cable. Consequently, temperature variation caused by abnormally high temperature generated outside is transmitted speedily to the optical fiber 2 through the pipe 4 and metal layer 3 which are thermally good conductors, thereby shortening a detection time extremely.
