Abstract

PURPOSE:To project long-life light with narrow spectrum width by projecting light on a columnar waveguide doped with a fluorescent material from its outer periphery. CONSTITUTION:A rod type light emission source 12 is arranged at the outer periphery of the columnar waveguide 11 doped with the fluorescent material (A). A reflecting mirror 13 is arranged at the further outer periphery of the light source 12, a concave mirror 14 is arranged at one end of the waveguide 11, and a condenser lens 15 is arranged at the other end. Then the material A absorbs the projection light from the light source 12 and emits fluorescent light, and fluorescent light which is emitted outward is returned to the waveguide 11 by the mirrors 13 and 14 and emitted as parallel light through a lens 15. Further, perylene-series coloring matter is usable as the material A. Consequently, an inexpensive, long-life light source which substitutes for an Ar laser is obtained.
