Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the titled device small in size and light in weight, and to reduce cost by providing a first check valve for working only in the direction for exhausting inert gas, and a second check valve for working only in the direction for allowing the inert gas to flow into a magnetic head and magnetic disk assembly body HDA. CONSTITUTION:When a temperature of gas (helium gas) in an HDA 2 rises by following up an operation of a magnetic disk device, and pressure in the HDA 2 rises, gaseous helium 8 is blown off into the open air from a check valve 1. Also, when the pressure in the HDA 2 has decreased due to an operation stop of the magnetic disk device, gaseous helium is replenished through a valve 5, a filter 4 and a check valve 3 from a gas cylinder 7. Accordingly, the pressure in the HDA 2 is always kept constant. In such a way, the gaseous helium is sucked and exhausted by rising and falling of the pressure in the HDA 2, and as a result, a pressure difference between the inside of the HDA 2 and the open air comes to scarcely exist. In such a way, the closed structure of the HDA 2 can be simplified and miniaturized.
