Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct the ignition timing of an engine by atmospheric pressure and prevent lag in ignition timing on a high land by providing an atmospheric pressure sensor in an ignition timing control device. CONSTITUTION:The number of output pulses of an AFS 13 which enters between defined crank angles of an engine 1 is counted by an AN detecting means 20 from the output of the AFS 13 and the output of a crank angle sensor 17. An engine speed is calculated from the period of the crank angle sensor 17 by a control means 21 and an ignition timing A is obtained by the AN detecting means 20 based on the counted load data. Upon obtaining a correcting quantity by a specific formula from a value corresponding to atmosphere pressure on a flatland or on a high land detected by an atmospheric pressure sensor 24, this correcting quantity is subtracted from the ignition timing A. Based on this, electrification of an ignition coil 19 is controlled and the ignition timing is advanced in accordance with the atmospheric pressure. Thereby, an output torque can be restrained from lowering on a high land while also enabling the optimum ignition timing to be set.
