Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a copolyester which can be produced from easily available inexpensive materials, is excellent in mechanical strengths, heat resistance and moldability and can be molded at low temperatures, comprising four specified kinds of aromatic recurring units in amounts in specified ranges. CONSTITUTION:A copolyester comprising recurring units of formulas I, II, III and IV, wherein said units of formula I are present in an amount of 3-15mol%, said units of formula II are present in an amount of 5-30mol%, the ratio of the units of formula III to the units of formula II is 0.8-1.1, and said units of formula IV are present in an amount of 30-85mol%. This copolyester can be produced from easily available inexpensive materials, and can give a resin material which is excellent in mechanical strengths, heat resistance, and moldability, can be injection-molded at a melt temperature of 260-350 deg.C and has a heat distortion temperature of 170-320 deg.C.
