Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable conformability to be improved by specifying that the opening area of pores in the sliding surface is to a ratio of the specified range to the whole sliding area so as to prevent the occurrence of insufficient lubrication which is caused by the re-entry of lubricant leached from pores in the sliding surface. CONSTITUTION:The opening area of pores in the sliding surface of a bearing is made to be 0.1-10% of the whole sliding area in this oil impregnated metal powder sintered bearing. This constitution thereby can prevent the occurance of insufficient lubricant which is caused by the re-entry of lubricant leached from the pores in the sliding surface, thereby enabling friction force and noise to be reduced shortly after the use of the bearing, and also enabling the time required until the coefficient of friction will be stabilized to be sharply reduced so as to improve conformability.
