Abstract
PURPOSE:To maintain the performance of a developer over a long period by using a carrier having a triboelectric charge controlling layer contg. a specified amt. or more of fluoroalkyl (meth)acrylate repeating units and toner particles contg. polyester-based resin. CONSTITUTION:A carrier obtd. by successively coating a core material with an intermediate layer and a triboelectric charge controlling layer contg. a fluoroalkyl (meth)acrylate-based polymer is mixed with toner particles contg. polyester-based resin to obtain an electrostatic latent image developer. The triboelectric charge controlling layer contains >50wt.% fluoroalkyl (meth) acrylate repeating units. Since the content of fluoroalkyl (meth)acrylate repeating units is >50wt.%, the amt. of initial triboelectric charge of the developer can be regulated to 10-40muc/g and is hardly reduced even by repeated use. Accordingly, clear visible images can be continuously obtd. from the beginning of use of the developer and fogging is hardly caused.
