Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a drying agent which is entirely free from leakage due to deliquescence and stickiness on their surfaces, by mixing a deliquescent salt with a saponified copolymer of vinyl acetate-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and further with diatomaceous earth. CONSTITUTION:A drying agent is prepared by mixing a deliquescent salt A such as powder of calcium chloride dihydrated salt, a saponified copolymer B comprising a copolymer composed of vinyl acetate and unsaturated dicarboxylic acid at the ratio of 50-99.8mol.% to 50-0.2mol.% such as a saponified copolymer of maleic acid monomethyl-vinyl acetate, etc., wherein 70mol.% and over of its vinyl acetate component has been saponified, and burnt diatomaceous earth C, and then by drying them to produce drying agents. The drying agent produced in this manner causes no leakage due deliquescence and can be applicable to high-grade articles such as clothings of high class, precision machines, electronic parts, etc.
