When a work B of a different kind is positioned at the boring process station 2, a tool 6a and a measuring head 7a are simultaneously changed in their arrangement after measuring the bore of a preceding work A at the bore measuring station 3, and then the work B is machined at the boring process station 2. Process line stoppage due to the changing of tool arrangement which needs longer time in comparison with machining time can be thereby reduced to once to improve the operation rate of a transfer machine.
