CONSTITUTION:When a control means 38 controls, for instance, the rotating speed of a circular-plate driving motor M2 in response to the detected signal from a radial position sensor 37, the control is carried out in such a way as the rotating speed is decreased so as to maintain a constant relative peripheral speed as a working means 36 comes near to the outer circumference of a circular plate 1 such as a magnetic disk medium. When the radial relative speed of the working means 36 is controlled, a working-means-moving motor M1 is controlled in such a way as the radial moving speed of the working means 36 is increased as it comes near to the outer circumference of the circular plate 1, so that working time can be shortened in the region near to the outer circumference where the peripheral speed is high. Thus, uniform working can be carried out over the entire surface, and the enhancement in working accuracy can be achieved.
