Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an aerosol preparation for nasal cavity application, having durable activity, effective at a small amount of application and free from side effects, by suspending oxaprozin powder in liquefied propellant gas. CONSTITUTION:Oxaprozin powder having particle diameter of 1-50mum preferably 5-25mum is added to a liquefied propellant gas such as liquefied petroleum gas or chlorofluorocarbon (e.g. flon 12 or flon 22) which are conventional propellant gases for medical aerosol agent. The amount of the powder is 0.5-10wt.% based on the whole composition. The particles are suspended in the liquefied propellant gas by mixing the propellant gas with a liquid produced by dissolving (A) a nonionic liquid surfactant (e.g. higher fatty acid sorbitan ester such as Span 80 or Span 83) having an HLB of <=10 sand giving low irritancy to nasal mucosa in an amount of 0.1-1wt.% (based on the whole composition) in (B) a solvent (e.g. flon 11) compatible with the liquefied propellant gas.
